You lose max health initially, but you can get that back by life siphon/transfer, and once you got into fighting, you start losing health and with that health returned back to you, you get your max health back again. So it's like car/life insurance you pay. You lose money now for payment, but you'll get it back when you need it the most. Does this help?

Sacrafice XX% of max health means you lose health equal to that percent of your maximum health, not an actual reduction in your maximum health.
That is, sacrafice 33% of max health on a person with 100 out of 100 health would cause them to lose 33 health, for 67 out of 100 health. Heal the sacraficed health back and you're as good as new.

I play a N/W, and without this skill, I'd just be a pointy haired freak with a sword.
Throw an extra +200 life into the mix, and, like, woah! I kick arse!
Seriously, an amazing skill, even if it takes a WHILE to get.
A must have for any meleemancer.

Demonic Flesh doesn't make a necromancer a tank anymore than Illusion of Weakness makes a Mesmer a tank.
You're still just as susceptible to damage as all other casters, and tax monks as much as a fire ele trying to tank using all fire spells.
Should you wear Tormentor's Gear, you can now tank physical attacks as well as a ranger, who doesn't tank physical attacks all that well, and elemental attacks slightly more than a monk in wanderer's/saintly gear, and less than a warrior.
The point is simply that for the purpose of tanking, this skill doesn't come anywhere near reaching that goal. It's just instant gratification in health, and you can ask Alesia about how much healing alone enables a person to tank.
On a brighter note, it's good for using with Grenth's Balance and counteracting health loss from superior runes, and it lasts a reasonable duration, and unlike Illusion of Weakness, the health bonus it gives can be restored by healing again and again without being recast. Unlike Vital Blessing, it doesn't eat up an arrow of energy regeneration, and without needing a health bonus on your weapon, you can wear a defence mod instead of a Fortitude mod on your weapon/staff.

Hmmm, skill trainer in LA doesnt have it, and cant see a quest at Yaks that gives it (yet).
Can anyone confirm that this skil is availible @ yaks?... or even better give me a definitive answer on where the trainer that supplies it is?
thanx all

It's also great when combined with other skills like Vital Blessing or
Illusion of Weakness.
My Mesmer/Nec doesn't leave town without this baby.

This might also be a skill that might help some of us necros farm since it increases your health amount and with spiteful spirit and maybe a monk secondary with balths aura and symbol of wrath some pretty good healing and area of effect.
